Hi Reader, Welcome to our special edition newsletter, all about the upcoming Victorian Seniors Festival this October. We love what this festival stands for—celebrating older Victorians with a month-long program of free and low-cost events, performances, and activities across the state—and we think everyone should know about it! We’ve gathered all the highlights, tips, and must-sees so you can make the most of this year’s celebrations (including an event of our own!). It's also a good idea to check with your local council, library or community centre to see the range of events happening close to home. And don't forget this extra reason to get excited: from 5 to 12 October 2025, Victorian Seniors Card holders can enjoy 8 days of free public transport across Victoria. That means unlimited travel on all metropolitan services, V/Line train and coach routes, and selected regional bus services outside the myki-enabled area. Simply touch on and off as usual with your Seniors Myki card, and your trips won’t be charged. What events will you be attending? Warmly,
P.S. You’ll spot a few partner businesses on our list. Some have paid for a little extra spotlight, but rest assured—we only say yes to partners we truly believe in. If it’s here, it’s something we've experienced and would happily recommend. Explore the Seniors Festival this OctoberEnter our GiveawaysFestival Event Highlights - Metro Melbourne

The place had changed, of course, but sitting there with a cider in hand brought the memories flooding back. That afternoon led me to visit a few more old haunts, and it...
Hi there Reader, One of our lovely contributors, Kathy, recently reminded me of something important. She’d just been along to a Device Security: Privacy and Etiquette session at Darebin Library and told me she never misses a chance to learn more about using her laptop, emails and mobile. Her motto made me smile: “You don’t know what you don’t know.” Kathy told me she picked up some surprising advice (who knew emojis could be so risky?) and, just as importantly, had a good laugh along the way....
Hi there Reader, Last week I had the privilege of speaking on a panel for the Be Bold Be Brave forum in Geelong, a program empowering female high school students to chase their ambitions. One of my fellow panellists was Clare Reilly—an inspiring disability and MS advocate whose determination left a lasting impression on me. Clare is about to take on a challenge like no other: becoming the first person to traverse the world’s longest off-road cycling trail—the 1,072km Munda Biddi Trail in...
