Where will the Seniors Festival take you?

Hello Reader,

Today marks the very first day of the Victorian Seniors Festival, and we’re delighted to share our festival highlight guide with you. It's been divided into three parts so you can find our top picks of:

  1. The best events happening across metro Melbourne
  2. The best events happening in regional Victoria
  3. A round-up of the best deals on offer this month

It’s the perfect excuse to plan some lovely outings — and with a free week of public transport to enjoy, getting around couldn’t be easier. While our guides focus on city and regional highlights, don’t forget to check your local council for community events this month. Many councils even provide transport options to help you get there.

We’d love to hear what you get up to during the festival, so don’t be shy — hit reply and share your favourite moments with us!

Enjoy your week,
Amy

P.S. There are still a few spots left! Join us for a special Melbourne City Pub Tour with writer and guide Paul Daffey on Thursday 9 October, 2–5 pm. Who would have thought attending the Royal Melbourne Show with my daughter in law and granddaughters would have been the most fun 5 hours. We did and saw everything.
Starting off with visiting the Little Farmers Field where eggs were collected, apples, strawberries and carrots picked, sheep were shorn and tractor rides, then sorting all the produce into big bins. And this is all a free activity! Great for preschool kids.

Hello Reader, A while back, I thought I’d done something clever by picking up a lime tree on Facebook Marketplace. I love using limes in summer drinks and cooking, so I was pretty pleased with myself. The first year it produced one or two very ordinary limes, but I figured it just needed a better home, so I found a spot in the garden and planted it out. Sure enough, the next year it was thriving, producing plenty of fruit. But when I tasted them, they were odd—round, not quite right, and...

Hello Reader, I’m thrilled to share something very special with you — our very own Melbourne City Map, free to download and print whenever you’re planning a day in the city. The idea came about in conversation with my dad, Chris, who happens to be a retired cartographer. Together, we thought it would be wonderful to create a highlight map just for our readers. At its core, the map showcases 10 free cultural attractions in Melbourne’s CBD, but it goes further — featuring tram routes, public...

We caught up on Sunday over coffee and cake at Chocolate Buddha in Federation Square — perfectly timed with Celebration Day, the official opening of the...
