Free tickets inside! Love classical music and available this Saturday night?

Hello Reader,

Did anyone else make it to the Flower and Garden Show over the weekend? We had such a blast! From stunning floral displays to creative garden ideas, there was so much to see (and plenty of inspiration to take home). If you missed it—or just want to relive the highlights—check out our video over on Facebook!

Speaking of great outings, we recently spent a Sunday afternoon exploring Williamstown with our newest contributor, Dimi, and her grandkids—and what an adventure! If you’re looking after little ones these school holidays, Seaworks is a fantastic option.

For even more school holiday inspiration, our wonderful friend Joyce from TOT: HOT OR NOT has been exploring Melbourne with her kids for over ten years. Her website is packed with tried-and-tested outings, making it a brilliant resource for family-friendly ideas.

Whether you’re entertaining grandkids or just looking for a new spot to explore, I hope this inspires you to get out and enjoy something fun today—Williamstown or otherwise!

Enjoy,
Amy

Advertised as Melbourne’s only absolute riverfront hotel the Crowne Plaza has obviously been modernised and refurbished since 1990 which, for us, proved to be an escape into relaxing luxury enhanced by contemporary décor and fittings.
Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The mesmerising vista, seen through the large window, framed the City skyline, the Yarra and Southbank were always interesting and so watchable.

Hi Reader, Chris here. If you’ve ever wandered through an art gallery and admired the paintings without really stopping to think about the stories behind them—you’re not alone. I’ve done the same. But something shifted for me during a recent visit to the NGV Ian Potter Centre at Federation Square. It was my first time joining a guided tour—and it completely changed the way I experienced the art. Our guide, a passionate volunteer, brought each room to life, especially when she introduced a...

Hi Reader, My dad, Chris, recently said that our weekly outings have taken us to some fascinating places—but one of the most memorable was our visit to the Koorie Heritage Trust. It really stayed with us. After wandering through some of Melbourne’s oldest colonial buildings, it was striking to then stand inside a contemporary space that connects to a culture tens of thousands of years older. With National Reconciliation Week approaching (27 May – 3 June), it’s a timely moment to reflect on...

Hello Reader, With Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May) upon us, I’ve been reflecting on how important it is to care for our mental wellbeing—especially during life changes like retirement. It turns out that staying mentally healthy doesn’t have to mean anything complicated. Things like keeping a routine, staying socially connected, and making time for regular movement can all make a big difference. I’ve found that retired or semi-retired doesn’t mean slowing down—it often means having a...
