Sharing Some Favourites for a Little Inspiration

Hi there Reader,

Terrie here. I wanted to share a few fascinating resources that have been adding a lot of value to my days lately—whether you’re looking for new perspectives, scientific insights, or simply a bit of inspiration, I hope you enjoy these as much as I have.

  • StayingConnected - Kaye Fallick emphasises the power of storytelling in navigating life’s challenges. With a background in publishing and advocacy, she engages with diverse voices to explore ageing, financial literacy, and personal growth. Subscribe to her SuperConnected enews for updates on innovative ideas and events impacting older Australians.
  • Greater Good Science Centre – This centre is dedicated to exploring the science behind well-being. Through articles, podcasts, and resources, they cover topics like gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness, supporting a community that’s resilient, connected, and thriving.
  • Ageing Disgracefully – Dr. Kaye, a philosopher in her seventies, reflects on life’s blessings and hardships with a fresh perspective. After creating her first documentary, she’s now on Instagram, sharing stories daily and championing creativity in aging. Her work is a refreshing call to see growing older as an opportunity to live more intentionally.

Enjoy exploring these gems, and if any of them spark something in you, I’d love to hear about it! Just hit reply.

Warmly,
Terrie

A Taste of the Yarra's Delights

We spent a delightful afternoon with what was easily one of the most relaxing and scenic meals we’ve enjoyed in ages

The river cruise was just delightful! Viewing the sights and sounds of Melbourne at such a leisurely pace gave us time to really soak up the beauty and history along the banks of the Yarra.
We admired the parks and gardens, the stately homes and historic bridges, and Melbourne’s sporting and entertainment venues before returning to disembark at Southbank. The hero of the day was the three-course meal served by the attentive and entertaining crew.

Hello Reader, One year ago today, I sent out my very first newsletter for Seniors in Melbourne. Back then, there were just 25 subscribers (mostly friends and family!). What started as a way to encourage my parents, Chris and Terrie, to rediscover Melbourne has grown into something even more special. Not only has this community expanded, but so has my team of contributors—all retired (or...

It’s a thought-provoking listen created especially for those navigating aging or even just contemplating what lies ahead. Each episode dives into important topics like health, creativity, and social issues, often with insights from influential guests like Lex Marinos and Perry. What I love most is how it encourages us to embrace this stage of life with confidence and purpose. It’s...
