Music, Memories & a Cuppa — Sincerely Yours Hits All the Right Notes

Hi there Reader,

I recently had a brilliant afternoon at Playing Second Fiddle! It’s not often a show has the whole room beaming, but this one did — and then some. One audience member summed it up perfectly when they simply shouted, “Fantastic!” alongside the applause. And honestly, they weren’t wrong.

Created by the talented Victoria Mantynen, Sincerely Yours is more than just a performance program. It’s a celebration of community, connection, and musical theatre. After the music, you’re invited to stay for a cuppa and a chat, which makes it all feel extra special.

We’re thrilled to be partnering with Victoria and her company, Little Pine Productions, to share these beautiful events with our readers. Her Sincerely Yours program and Dame Vera Lynn Tribute Show are touring this autumn — and they’re a truly meaningful way to spend an afternoon.

Find out more about the program and upcoming events near you.

Enjoy,
Amy

GIVEAWAY

WIN a double pass to Orchestra Victoria with Maggie Beer at Hamer Hall on 2 Jun 2025.

Climb Aboard The Titanic Ship

Slip on a VR headset and experience the Titanic’s grandeur in stunning detail.

Tastefully done, from the grand departure to the ship’s final seconds, the 3-D view in the headset leads you to all parts of the ship. Walking through the opulent dining rooms to the grimy boiler room, the interaction is hard to describe. I drank champagne, shovelled coal, had a go at the helm, and listened to many interesting stories, all in a Virtual Reality world.
Watching the iceberg hit was a bit eerie, but the episode finishes with escaping in a lifeboat, and there is a part where you actually go 3800m to the ocean floor and explore the wreck as it is today.

Hello Reader, With Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May) upon us, I’ve been reflecting on how important it is to care for our mental wellbeing—especially during life changes like retirement. It turns out that staying mentally healthy doesn’t have to mean anything complicated. Things like keeping a routine, staying socially connected, and making time for regular movement can all make a big difference. I’ve found that retired or semi-retired doesn’t mean slowing down—it often means having a...

Dame Vera Lynn

Hi there Reader, It's Diane here. I hadn’t been to Chadstone in years — and wow, has it changed! It just keeps growing. You could easily spend a full week exploring it properly, especially with all the new food options. On my visit, I stumbled across a clever AI-powered recipe tool in their latest food precinct. With a little help from a very friendly concierge, I gave it a go. I’m coeliac, so I added that into the notes, chose Italian and salmon, and within seconds it had suggested five...

Hello Reader, There’s something special about autumn in Melbourne, isn’t there? The air gets that little bit crisper, the parks put on a show, and suddenly a cup of tea outdoors feels like a real treat. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the small things I still want to squeeze in before winter arrives — maybe a slow garden stroll, a midweek matinee, or finally trying that café with the courtyard seating everyone keeps talking about. Our contributor, Kaye, recently captured this autumn magic so...
